  • Mailbutler Sidebar for Apple Mail has everything you need is now conveniently all in one place, including notes, tasks and follow-ups. Follow-ups can now be added to any message - please note they no longer have a title. Download the latest version of Mailbutler for Apple Mail to check it out - also accessible by using the shortcut toggle ^⌥⌘M.
  • Indicators are now also in the message header, next to Date Received. Now you can see at a glance if notes, tasks, or follow-ups were added to the message. It's still shown even when the Context Sidebar is collapsed.
  • Mailbutler Sidebar for Gmail has been updated more capabilities than before. Everything you need is now conveniently all in one place, including notes, tasks, tracking details and newly introduced, follow-ups. Follow-up reminders can now be added to a message after it's been sent.

  • Time is of the essence, so we improved how our Date and Time picker look to make it quick and easy to select time intervals.

  • Indicators are always helpful, so we added new ones that mark if notes and tasks are added to a thread or draft in your inbox.

  • We've updated how you use your social accounts to log into Mailbutler, so they now include Apple, Google and Microsoft.
  • Utility Bar is no longer shown at the bottom of the compose window. But don't worry, it's not gone! You can add notes, tasks, and a follow-up from the Context Sidebar now. Preview and Templates moved to the toolbar.

Improvements

  • Helpful information can go a long way when errors occasionally occur. So if sending a message later fails, a banner appears saying why with an option to manually send the message.

Fixes

  • Cracked the code so now you can go back to scheduling signed and encrypted messages. 
  • We cleared a communication bug with Gmail, so now Mailbutler is properly authorized to access your Gmail account.
  • Did you miss the tracking indicators on your inbox? They're back!
  • Signatures won't budge if you decide to start a new message from a template.
  • Contacts now show available name and email information in the sidebar.

  • Reminders to update Mailbutler now specify which email client. Especially helpful for those using Mailbutler across the board!
  • Dashboard notifications are now activated by default. Browser notifications, for your viewing convenience, will need to be manually activated in your Mailbutler extension preferences.    
  • To keep track of shared items, each team member's activity feed will now log when a note or task or signature is shared.

  • Mailbutler handles signed and encrypted messages better now. Normal Send Later won't work on them for technical reasons, so Mailbutler will now ask you if you want to schedule them in Compatibility Mode.

  • Fixes the shortcut and menu item to activate/deactivate a Follow-up Reminder.
  • Fixed an issue where sending a message with Link Tracking could be blocked by a 404 error.

  • Business users can now better pinpoint who they're tracking, by excluding certain IP addresses from being tracked. (e.g. So as to avoid tracking when colleagues open your messages rather than just external clients.)

  • Fixing a duplicated signature template should be an easy as creating one, so we've added the full editor experience during the editing process.

  • Here at Mailbutler, we take security seriously. So we've implemented stronger password requirements to increase security of your accounts.
  • Love a signature so much, wish you could make two? Just like duplicating signature templates, signatures can now be replicated.

Fixes

  • A few things got shuffled around when cleaning up how we install the plugin in your device, but now everything's back where it should be. Failures relating to the cleaning plugin should no longer appear.

Improvements

  • We realize that keychain errors can be confusing sometimes, so we implemented better ways to handle these issues.
  • For the newcomers, we've reorganized our email communication after you register or end your trial period.
  • Sometimes a message template wouldn't work properly when composing a message - an extra bracket here, or a missing period there. So we've provided more helpful messages so you can quickly locate and fix the error, and get on your way to sending your message.
  • We don't yet know how to turn back time, so we've disabled choosing a time in the past when picking a date.
  • It's always helpful to have information about our profile and plan, so we've making that information more readily available for you.

Fixes

  • In the off chance that a message delivery fails, we will no longer bug you with a banner notification. You will still receive an email from Mailbutler informing you of the failed scheduled delivery.
  • In case you were one of the few who experienced a rare issue with installation, that's been fixed.
  • Sorry if we accidentally asked you to overwrite the date and time for sending a message later - that's been resolved.

  • We're improving the way we welcome new Chrome users to Mailbutler, so after installation, we automatically open or reload Gmail so you can start working with Mailbutler in your email provider right away!

  • We realize that keychain errors can be confusing sometimes, so we improved our error feedback to be more helpful.
  • We've improved our tracking method to avoid self tracking. 

Fixes

  • For those that never turn off their devices (or yourselves for that matter), we've fixed our token refresh so it will no longer fail no matter how long you stay inactive. So go ahead, take a nap. Mailbutler will be ready to work when you are.
  • If you came across a "server authentication missing" error, don't worry, we know where our servers are. We've rewired our system to prevent false alarms. 
  • Keyboard shortcut lovers, listen up! We made some for  just for creating notes and tasks within a message view.
  • For those on the paid plans, we didn't mean to scare you with wrongly-timed warnings of used up actions.
  • We tweaked our changelog so the latest changes (like these!) are visible and not grayed out.

Improvements

  • First impressions are incredibly important, so we've made our communication even more clear should you ever come across a login or registration error.
  • Sometimes a message template wouldn't work properly when composing a message - an extra bracket here, or a missing period there. So we've provided more helpful messages so you can quickly locate and fix the error, and get on your way to sending your message.
  • When selecting from the message template dropdown, subject lines are now visible. It detects whether you've already set a message subject, or if left empty, will insert the template's default subject.

Fixes

  • Outlook and Mailbutler resolved their differences about creating required folders, so they're back to being compatible friends.
  • The summer sun helped us defrost a frozen compose window when sending a message untracked.
  • We now support spaces in macOS short usernames. Use them wisely.

May 7th, 2019 Version 1607

Improvements

  • We polished some rough edges and delivered general enhancements here and there. Mailbutler is now better than it was.
  • Mail was discarding empty email drafts that already had Notes and/or Tasks attached to them, without asking. This sadly meant orphaned Note and Task items in your Dashboard. We stepped in, now Mail will ask before closing.
  • Delayed the time Mailbutler shows tooltips for Notes and Tasks. By ‘delayed’, we mean ‘finally they're not showing up as soon as your cursor touches the corner of a note'.
  • In fact we also adjusted the position of these tooltips, so they don't cover up any icons too.
  • Improved the way tutorials are shown for new users.
  • Part of the menu in the companion app was cut off and hidden. So was the changelog window. We did a little magic and now they're showing all beautiful and fine.

Fixes

  • A bug kept bringing up the login screen to users in companion app, even though the user is already logged in. Instead of imagining a tiny bug pushing forward a computer screen, just know that we’ve extinguished it.

April 30th, 2019 Version 1530

Improvements

  • Undo Send will now politely returns the focus to whatever app held it last when dismissed.
  • We optimized how Mailbutler accesses macOS keychain.
  • In Tracking Details, if a tracked link is too long to be displayed in the window, you can now view and copy the full URL as a tooltip.

Fixes

  • Some of the default keyboard shortcuts weren't properly loaded on launch. They're back now.
  • In very rare cases, some emails don’t have a message ID, making it impossible for Mailbutler to add Notes and Tasks. Instead of letting you furiously click ‘Add Note’ with nothing happening (it’s not you), we’ll now inform you when that happens (...it’s also not us).
  • Minor fixes to styling of Tracking Details when there’s a longer list of tracked actions.
  • Corrected how usage statistics of Message Templates and Shared Message Templates of teams are recorded in compose view.
  • Improved saving and updating of Follow-up Reminders.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Tasks and Follow-up Reminders to be saved without a message.
  • Also fixed a weird bug where deleting a Follow-up Reminder creates a new one.

  • Fixed an issue that could result in 'fullName' not being rendered as expected when using Liquid templates.
  • Corrected the display of Notes with multiple lines in the companion app.
  • Fixed an issue where some users' Mailbutler folders (Snooze and Schedule) would disappear from the left sidebar menu when they refresh the page.

  • Mailbutler will now show the number of emails you have scheduled next to the label of your 'Scheduled' folder, making it way easier to keep track of emails you've planned ahead of time.

  • This week we've been busy preparing for Tracking Details revamp... 🤫
  • We also introduced serialized processing of email accounts. This optimizes the way Mailbutler processes your accounts and avoids multiple connections at the same time.
  • Did some polishing and beautifying on Integrations page.
  • You can now simply drag an email draft to the 'Scheduled' folder to trigger Send Later! If you want to unschedule an email, simply drag them out of the folder again. (Note that dragging an email to 'Snoozed' folder will not trigger snoozing.)
  • If Send Later got interrupted or it was taking longer than usual, Mailbutler will now show useful options to help you easily reschedule your email.
  • With that, we also optimized the wording of Send Later options. Let us know if you spot them and find the changes to be helpful!
  • We further stabilized the installation process of the plugin.
  • Several minor enhancements to Mailbutler's functionalities.
  • Made sure the mailbox icon for 'Mailbutler - Scheduled' is as crisp as it can be.
  • Before this update, tooltip messages and previews appear almost right away when you hover across templates and signatures. We added a delay so you won't get bombarded with tips anymore.

  • Chrome will no longer attempt to change your password each time you update your Mailbutler profile.
  • Solved a bug that with DMA installed, some features (such as Unsubscribe and Undo Send) sometimes show up without colors. Honestly, life gets really dull when it's colorless. Luckily we managed to fix that immediately.

Improvements

  • Notarization: we're using extra verification provided by Apple, making it harder for malevolent third parties to interfere with it.
  • Some say the best design changes and functionality improvements are often unnoticable. We gladly approve this statement with the list of minor changes made in this update.
  • Mailbutler now looks gorgerous in Gmail Dark Mode!

Fixes

  • Solved issues that caused BCC to CRM to not work for certain users.
  • Also resolved a rare installation problem that could prevent Mailbutler loading.
  • Mailbutler was competing and clashing with other plugins in modifying Mail's dock icon. It's frankly a small space that they're fighting for, but Mailbutler will now get along in peace.
  • Fixed a problem where under certain conditions, Mailbutler's pop over appears detached in the lower left screen corner. Yes, quite odd.
  • We got carried away with the excitement of showing you what's new and improved in Mailbutler. So much that we forgot to set the 'What's new' notification to only appear once after each update, espeically after you've already read it. Won't happen again.
  • Our awesome Gmail dev team extinguished a few persistent bugs and made Mailbutler run a lot smoother.

Feb 12th, 2019 Version 2.2.7

  • We want to make sure you're informed of what's new and changed. After each version update, you'll now receive a notification that lets you find our release notes.

Improvements

  • In earlier versions, users who disabled Undo Send pop-up could still use this feature in Outbox by right clicking on the sending message. We've made this a lot easier by adding a banner on top of each outgoing email.
  • When a message is tracked, in earlier versions you had to hover over the checkmark to see first open date. Which, could have been easier if it's just there. It's now automatically shown next to the blue ticks, as soon as it's opened.
  • You can now quickly undo your message with keyword shortcut (^⌘U by default)!
  • We just made Mailbutler load a lot snappier than the last version.
  • We made our get started tutorial messages look a lot better.
  • Styling of Message Templates and Signatures previews look a lot nicer now.

Fixes

  • You can define your working hours to personalize when Mailbutler sends you notifications. Maybe it's hard for apps and bots to understand the human concept of sleep, but we found and fixed a bug which caused Mailbutler to ignore those set hours when snoozing emails and sending follow-up notifications.
  • Sorted out a problem which caused undoing a message to also undo whichever email tracking mode you have manually selected, and revert it back to the default setting.
  • Fixed an odd issue when you pick multiple tracked messages of your own (from your sent folder) and forward them, they would unintentionally be marked as opened.
  • Resolved several incompatability issues of Mailbutler with CargoLifter.
  • Fixed UI glitches that caused avatars in Undo Send pop-up to sometimes show up incorrectly.
  • Squished a few frustrating bugs where for some users, a tracked email is shown as being opened before the message was sent.
  • Fixed several styling and UI issues with compose button and checkboxes.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Send Later to always send warning about past dates.
  • Solved an issue where users who open their email from message view instead of their inbox could not load Contacts sidebar correctly.

Fixes

  • We fixed a bug on the date selection of Send Later.
  • After successfully using Mailbutler to unsubscribe from a newsletter, the Unsubscribe button will no longer be shown. Just like the elevator, pressing Unsubscribe button furiously more than once does not speed things up.
  • Messages sometimes stuck around in the outbox for an extra up to 30 seconds when Undo Send was enabled. That's a really long time. Unless you're really into correcting mistakes like we are. Mistakes like this one right here. We fixed it.
  • Sometimes a scheduled message showed the scheduled time instead of actual delivery time. This may or may not have revealed some midnight workers who pretend to email at 9am. On the bright side, we got it fixed in 2.2.5. It's eliminated. Done.
  • We also fixed an issue where some users couldn't install our plug-in.
